Description

This Sao Leonardo aged White Port has aged in oak barrels for a period of thirty years. The wine shows a golden amber colour, indicating maturity, with intense aromas of dried fruits and spices, a rich, complex palate with hints of dried apricot, honey, white pepper, and a long, persistent, nutty finish.

Serving & Food Pairing:
White Ports are ready to drink and do not require decanting. Best enjoyed chilled at 12-13ºC on its own as an aperitif, or paired with rich starters such as mushroom risotto. With a freshness beyond age, White Port is also ideal with crème brulee or a spicy apple crumble.

São Leonardo is a premium red wine produced by Quinta do Mourão, a historic estate in Portugal's Douro Valley. Named after the patron saint, it is made from a blend of traditional Portuguese grape varieties. The NV 30 Year Old White Port São Leonardo is a field blend of grapes like Viosinho, Codega de Larinho, Cerceal and Malvasia. It was bottled in 2019 with a bar-top cork and 153 grams of residual sugar. Showing much more concentration and focus than the 20 Year, this also shows a touch of char, perhaps indicating some fruit that is very mature. In some ways, this is a big step up over the 20, and in others not at all. It still has plenty to offer, though, granting that it is quite pricey. The pure power is impressive and it's very tasty.
